I love claiming things are “easy” to do. Now, while this is an easy concept, I must admit that it was NOT easy to do. In fact, I was hoping it would turn out 10-times better than it did, but hey — kids are there to keep our perfectionism at bay.
I found this cute idea on Freckle Photo. She does some amazing photography. Very inspiring! What I failed to realize is that she was working with older kids than I was… 🙂
If you were there when me and my friend Jenn sat these 4 cuties down for a foot photoshoot, you would’ve heard the following:
Jenn: Aidan, sit down.
Aidan: I don’t want to.
Darcy: I accidentally put Benson in footsie pajamas. That won’t work!Â
Jenn: Aidan, please sit down.
Aidan: I want to go home.
Benson: Wah!25
Cora: I want DAT! (pointing at the camera)
Kendall: Can I see my picture on your camera?
Darcy: I haven’t been able to take a picture yet, Kendall. If you sit down I can take one and you can see it.
Jenn: Aidan, sit down for 1 picture and then we can go.
Aidan: But, I don’t want to.
Jenn: Ok, then lay down.
Aidan: O…k…
Darcy: Cora, sit down next to the baby.
Darcy: Finally, we’re all sitting! Get closer together! Oh, whatever.
Camera: Snap, snap, snap, snap, snap, snap, snap, snap, snap.
This is the BEST photo I got from the shoot, with a bit of doctoring up to it thanks to Photoshop:
Below is one I cropped. I think it’s great cropped! It brings your focus to the writing on the feet, and of course a dad will know that those feet are from his little ones. Or… you can have everyone lay down in the picture. That would make it so it would be easier to have the feet be in focus in the foreground and the bodies out-of-focus in the background, because the distance between the feet and the heads will be greater (which I failed to do, because my child wrangling skills were a little off today). Also, if the feet are closer together, the in-focus v. blurry effect will be more prominent, because you will be able to get closer to the feet. As I wrote in a previous post, you will want to use a 50mm (or close to it) lens to get the part in focus/part-blurry effect.

Oh my gosh stressful for a seemingly easy photo! Absolutely adorable and hilarious!
