As a mom, isn’t it important to know that you are appreciated? Although I can’t be sure, I’m thinking dads have the same desire!
What if you could tell him a unique reason he is a wonderful dad once a week every week until next year’s Father’s Day without having to put a reminder in your phone to do so? 😉
Do all the work upfront, and tell your husband why you believe he is a wonderful dad. If you have older kiddos, have them write (or tell you) some reasons, as well. Heck, the more kids you have, the less work you have to do!
Here’s how I did it:
-Type or write your reasons out on a piece of paper. Rip the paper so all of your reasons become separate. I like the ripped look, but you can always cut if you want it to look cleaner.
-Place all of your ideas in a mason jar or other container
-Decorate your container with an easy fabric tie. Cut a piece of fabric about 30″x 1-1/2″. Put the tie around the neck of the jar or container and tie a Windsor Knot (I used this video.)
-Print out the Lid/Instructions/Tie Clip Template. Trace the inside flat sealing lid around the “You’re a great dad, & here’s why!” text and cut. Before tracing, make sure the text is centered on the sealing lid by holding it up to the light. 🙂
-Use double-sided tape or a looped piece of tape to hold the cut paper onto the sealing lid. You can skip this step if you want. It won’t be hard for him to get it right back where it was when he closes the jar.
-Cut around the “Instructions” part of the template, poke or punch a hole in the top, and put a ribbon through it. Tie the ribbon to the tie you placed earlier.
-Cut out the little “#1 Dad” text from the template. Place a small paper clip on the tie like it is a tie clip. Use double-sided tape or a looped piece of tape to fix the small piece of paper to the paper clip.
These are examples of messages you can put in the jar. If you click on the link below the picture, you’ll see the same page with blanks so you can fill in your kids’ names. Look — I did 34 for you! All you have to do is click on the link, print the page, and write in your kiddos’ names.
If you have more than 1 child:
You’re a Great Dad, and Here’s Why – multiple children – #1
You’re a Great Dad, and Here’s Why – multiple children – #2
If you have 1 child:
You’re a Great Dad, and Here’s Why – 1 child – #1
You’re a Great Dad, and Here’s Why – 1 child – #2

FROM THE MOUTHS OF LITTLE ONES:
I asked some kiddos about what they thought made their dad great, and here’s what they came up with:
“He taught me how to use a baseball glove.”
“He took me to Chick Filet.”
“He gives me presents.”
“He takes me to the zoo.”
“He wrestles with me.”
“He plays kitchen with me.”
“He does puzzles with me.”
“I miss him when he’s gone.”
“He reads me books.”
