What speaks summer more than fruit and frozen treats? That’s why I put them together… with a twist. I’ve posted several different ideas for Frozen Fruit Pops, but that’s not the end of the story. Mix, match, make up your own, and share your ideas in the comments on this blog for others to try! Give them to the kids, make them for a BBQ party, or just enjoy on a hot day.
For all of the fruits, except for strawberry, you will use a melon ball, a deep spoon, or a 1″ scoop (looks like a mini ice cream scoop) to scoop out cylindrical fruit balls. <– I wasn’t sure how to word that. Is “cylindrical fruit balls” ok?
All of the fruits can be frozen without any toppings, but if you want to spice it up a bit, here are a few ideas of what you can put on them before freezing:
Honey Dew or Cantaloupe:
-honey
-yogurt
Banana:
-peanut butter
-peanut butter and chocolate (I used colored chocolate Candy Melts and put some pastel sprinkles on it. The chocolate froze before all of the sprinkles could stick. You can change the colors of the chocolate and sprinkles so that you can bring the treats to any holiday celebration!)
-marshmallow fluff
-yogurt
Apple:
-peanut butter
-peanut butter and cinnamon
-honey and cinnamon
Pineapple:
-chocolate
Kiwi:
-Yogurt (this will cut some of the acidity)
Strawberry:
-chocolate
Note: Anything dipped in chocolate can also be dipped in any treat — graham cracker crumbs, small nuts, crushed up candy bars, mini chocolate/pb/yogurt chips, etc.
Warning: Eat quickly after removing from freezer, otherwise the fruit will become soggy. No one likes a soggy banana. Also, feel free to just put the toppings on and not freeze them. Fresh fruit with goodies on it makes a great presentation and also a nice snack!
