This is such a fun little idea, and pretty inexpensive and easy, too!
What it can be used for:
1) A gift for your little one,
2) A gift for a group of kids (school, church, mom’s group, co-workers kids, etc.),
3) Holiday party goodie bag item,
4) Playgroup craft (the cutting is done ahead of time),
5) Holiday party craft (keep the kids busy playing with their snowmen scenes while the adults chat)
Games you can play with your little one:
1) Make two and see who can put it together the fastest,
2) Take turns adding pieces of the snowman onto your felt background,
3) Call out a color and have him or her put only the pieces that are that color on the felt background,
4) Come up with different ways to build the snowman to make each other laugh (snowman doing a head stand, holding his hat, doing a cartwheel, branches as legs, etc.)
5) Mix-up the pieces and have him or her put them back where they belong,
6) Comment below with your idea!
Here’s how to make it!
What you’ll need:
1) A few rectangles of felt (or you can get a packet of felt rectangles from any craft store):
- white (for the snowman, snow on the ground, and snowflakes)
- black (for the coal and sun glasses)
- any color for the hat (I used blue)
- orange or yellow for the carrot nose and the word “SNOW”
- tan or brown for the “branch” arms
- any color for the background sheet
2) Scissors to cut the felt
Instructions:
1) You can either free-hand cut the pieces by looking at my picture, or you can use the template I made for you here: Build-a-Snowman Template
2) Build your snowman on your larger felt piece!
3) Play!
