Remember the Shark Tank giveaway I posted a while ago? I have to say that the winners are surely WINNERS! These are great products, and I’m so happy to have had the opportunity to give them to people who might not have bought them on their own.
Nicole, the founder of Teddy Needs a Bath! very generously sent me a package in the mail. This is what I found when I opened it:
Yep, that’s right! I received the “Teddy Needs a Bath!” book, the large wash bag, and Cotton Candy-scented dryer sheets.
*Disclaimer: I am not being paid for this review, nor did I ask for product in exchange for a review. I was planning on buying the product so I could do a review, but she beat me to the punch!
I was STOKED! I decided to go through the recommended process of reading the book with my child to introduce the idea that her stuffed animals are dirty and need to take a bath, having her help me put the toys in the laundering bag, washing them, and drying them. BTW, you’ll be amazed at how many toys I stuffed in the bag! Read on…
1) READING THE BOOK: Cora is obsessed with books, so when she saw that she got a new one, she was very excited. She sat through the entire book, engaged. The book has big pictures and simple script. It is easy for the little ones to follow along, and it’s very cutely written.
2) FILLING THE LAUNDRY BAG: This was another fun task for Cora to help me with. After reading the book, she understood the concept that her animals need to take baths just like she does. She ran around the living room gathering different stuffed toys. We even put her doll (plastic head and stuffed body) in the bag!
3) PUTTING “TEDDY” IN THE BATH! I hyped Cora up by telling her that she did a great job gathering all of her toys and that it is now time to go give them a bath! She followed me upstairs to the laundry room, and we put the bath bag in the washing machine. I used enough soap for about a half load, and the same for fabric softener. It’s ok if you don’t have fabric softener. The dryer sheets should help you in that area. I put it in for the normal cycle on warm.
I let Cora sit on top of the machine to watch the water flow all over her bagged-up animals.
*Note: You can wash the stuffed toys with other clothes, if you desire. Also, according to the website’s wash instructions, best results are yielded with front-loaders. As you can see, I have a top-loader. It worked fine for me!
4) DRYING “TEDDY”! Before placing the bag into the dryer, I placed a single dryer sheet in the bag. I pushed it down to the middle of the bag. I put my dryer on extra gentle (a setting lower than “Low”). Don’t do this. It took me about 4 cycles to actually get the stuffed toys all dry. Put it on “Low” and know that you might have to run the cycle again to ensure they are all dry. You can also feel inside the bag after the first cycle and pull out the dry toys so the others will dry quicker.
5) REUNITING WITH “TEDDY”! Cora was beyond excited to see her little guys again! She hugged them, talked to them, and giggled with delight. It was really a cute moment. All of them came out smelling sweet and fruity. I can’t say that the Cotton Candy Dryer Sheets smell exactly like cotton candy, but I can say that they smell sweetly delicious!! Just like any dryer sheet smell, after a couple days the smell dissipates. It’s nice while it lasts, though!
CONCLUSION: This was a really fun activity to do together, and I’m glad it is something we can make a tradition in our home. I highly recommend Teddy Needs a Bath! as a fun activity to do with your child, and more importantly, as something that will keep your child’s stuffed toys free from allergens and germs. You should encourage your child to be close to his or her stuffed animals, and not cringe at the thought of what lies beneath the cute, furry exterior!
And, the big reveal — can you beLIEVE how many stuffed animals I fit into the bag?! 11, and most were medium-sized, if not large!
