Whether you work or stay at home, it is hard to fit in everything we need to do in one day: chores, teaching your children, working out, make meals, spending quality time with your significant other, etc, etc, etc! It’s time to let go of some of that stress and combine a few of those tasks into one!
Try these simple workouts that will not only help your child learn a few things, it will also burn some calories!

Plank Art: Help your little one get in touch with their inner Picasso!
Here’s how: Place a piece of paper and a few crayons on the ground. You (or both you and your child) hold a plank. You can either just doodle together, or you can plan your masterpiece. Maybe you’ll want to draw your kitchen! Ask your child what is in the kitchen and have them draw it. You two can take turns drawing different pieces of the scene until your masterpiece is complete (or until your core muscles give out!) If you need some accountability, set a timer. Don’t release until it goes off.

ABC Jumping Jacks: Get some cardio in while teaching your child the ABC!
Here’s how: Ask your child to choose a letter. If you have foam, puzzle, or cardboard letters, you can let them choose one of those if they aren’t able to pick one out of the air on their own. Do jumping jacks while singing the ABCs until you get to the letter they called out. When you are finished, hold a squat until they choose a new letter. They might even catch on and do jumping jacks with you! For a challenge, make them star jumps (a jumping jack in the air).

Sit-up Pass: Work on shapes and workout along side your little one!
Here’s how: Position yourself and your child feet-to-feet, interlocking them (as depicted). You will have already placed different shapes (can be toys, paper shapes, puzzle shapes, whatever). You grab one shape and both of you do a sit-up at the same time. You hand the shape to your child while saying the name of the shape. If they know their shapes well, you can have them call out the name and color of the shape. You go down, grab another shape (while the child puts their shape down by them), and come back up to exchange again.

Lap Tricep Dips: Practice numbers while busting your arms!
Here’s How: Let your little one sit on your lap while you do tricep dips. You’ll go down and up while counting 1-10. When you hit 10, have them jump off and you both can do maniacs (run with small, quick steps in place) while you sing any song your child enjoys. Then, let them jump on your lap again while you do 10 more tricep dips, counting from 10-1. Repeat maniacs and go through the series as many times as you want!
